Friendly Eights

What is Friendly Eights?

Friendly Eights is a fun way for members and attenders to meet outside of Gwynedd Meeting.

I coordinate casual and cozy pot luck dinners in Friends’ homes for small groups of people. It doesn’t have to be eight people – We’ve had as many as nine and as few as five people.

The host provides the main course and the venue.  Each guest brings something to share: an appetizer, salad or dessert, etc.

Why should I join?

Sometimes after Meeting For Worship or other activities, people don’t have time to really get to know each other.  Also, sometimes at Fellowship Time people tend to chat with people they already know.

Gathering in small groups allows us to form and strengthen friendships.  We can get better acquainted with people whose names and faces we know, but whom we have never really chatted with before.  We learn more about each other over a nice meal.  (Also the food has been great!)  It’s an inexpensive night out, and preparing or purchasing one dish is manageable for most people.

If you have a baby or small children, please don’t let that stop you from participating!  I am sure there are plenty of hosts that would be delighted to have children at their homes.  You could also be a host at your own home with your child.  Also, if you have dietary restrictions, I’m sure we can work with you so you can participate too.

It is our hope that Friendly Eights will give people of different backgrounds and ages a chance to get to know each other.

How often can I participate?

You can request to be a guest or a host as often as you like.
