About Us:

The Peace Camp at Gwynedd Friends seeks to provide children with the tools they need to understand conflict, express emotions, communicate openly and honestly, understand different perspectives, celebrate differences, form creative solutions, and cooperate - all while having fun!  These skills are designed to empower children to foster peaceful situations at home, at school with other students, and in the larger context of the world.

The Peace Camp at Gwynedd Friends evolved from a community effort to develop a summer camp experience for elementary school age children with an emphasis on peacemaking, conflict resolution, self-expression, teamwork, and respect for all people and the world around us.

Campers at the Peace Camp at Gwynedd Friends will be encouraged to think creatively about problem solving in an atmosphere that is supportive and filled with fun!  Your child will experience full days of fun activities which focus on how he or she can create peaceful situations at home, at school and with friends. Campers will learn how they can have a positive effect in their own world by expressing their emotions, understanding other points of view, using words to solve problems, celebrating differences and reaching out with ideas of peace.

Campers will have the opportunity to build strong teamwork skills in just days while they play games that motivate them to overcome impediments and to work hard together, while caring deeply for their teammates. The campers will be playing as they are learning. A variety of activities including art projects, music, and games in groups, inside and outside, are all waiting for your child to enjoy!

Tuition is $225 per week. A $50 deposit (non-refundable) is required at time of registration, and this deposit is applied to the tuition total. Scholarships are available, please call for details.  The camp day runs from 9:00-3:00 (with drop off between 8:30-9:00). Children bring their own lunch, snacks are provided by the camp. Extended day care until 6:00 pm is available for $75 per week or $20 per day, and snacks/activities will be provided during after-camp care.

Registrations are accepted starting in February, and confirmation/acceptance will be sent within one month of our receipt of your completed registration form and deposit. Payment in full is expected on or before June 1. After June 1, a late fee of $25 per camper per week is assessed for a total of $250/week.

I liked the free choice a lot – Ben

Thank you for an educational and fun-filled week.  My girls came home singing songs and raving about the various activities.  They liked making cookies and making and selling lemonade.

I like the board in front that states what the campers did each day.

My son, Elijah, love camp and has been enjoying the various activities the children do each day.

My children Miles and Kasi have really enjoyed the activities and making new friends – Lisa Brown

Thanks for all you did to make camp a good experience for my grandchildren – Reba Mohan

Our daughter, Cassidy, always enjoys coming here to Peace Camp. She sometimes wishes it was all summer long!!  Counselors do a great job and it’s wonderful to see the board of activities they’ve worked on for the day – makes great dinner conversation. Thanks again!

Emily and Sarah Black had a great 2 weeks with you. Thank you for teaching them so much. We will surely be back next year! – Kim Black

The best I can describe Peace Camp is that my son, Jack, comes home peaceful !!  He comes home happy, respectful and tired.  I think the teachers and fellow campers have been such a wonderful addition to his life. Thank you Peace Camp!  – Tasha Pittser
